How Auto Transport Works

A transparent look at every step of shipping your vehicle with Carsaman β€” from the first quote to the moment you take the keys back.

Request Your Quote

Fill out our short online form or call us directly. Share pickup and delivery ZIP codes, vehicle year/make/model, whether it runs, and your preferred pickup window. We'll return a firm, all-inclusive quote β€” usually within 60 minutes during business hours.

Book Your Shipment

Approve the quote and we'll lock in your dispatch. There's no upfront payment β€” you don't pay a cent until a carrier is assigned and confirmed. Once booked, you'll receive a written order confirmation with the driver's contact info as soon as it's available.

Carrier Assignment

We match your shipment to a vetted, FMCSA-licensed carrier in our network. You'll get a call or text with the driver's ETA for pickup, typically within 1–3 business days for standard routes.

Pickup Day

The driver arrives at the pickup location and performs a full pre-transport inspection with you or your representative. Any existing dings, scratches, or dents are noted on the Bill of Lading. Both parties sign, and the vehicle is loaded.

In Transit

You're never in the dark.

While your vehicle is en route, your dedicated Carsaman dispatcher stays in contact with the driver and relays updates to you by text, email, or phone β€” whichever you prefer. If anything unexpected happens (weather delays, route changes), you'll hear it from us first, not the driver.

Typical transit times:

  • Under 500 miles: 1–2 days
  • 500–1,500 miles: 2–4 days
  • 1,500–2,500 miles: 4–7 days
  • Coast to coast: 7–10 days

Delivery Day

Inspect. Sign. Drive.

The driver contacts you a few hours before arrival to confirm the drop-off location. You (or your representative) meet the driver, perform a joint inspection comparing the vehicle's condition to the original Bill of Lading, and sign the delivery receipt.

The remaining balance is paid directly to the driver β€” typically by cash, cashier's check, or Zelle β€” and you drive away.

Preparing your vehicle for shipment

A few simple steps make pickup faster and delivery smoother.

Wash it

A clean vehicle makes any pre-existing damage easier to document accurately.

Remove personal items

Federal regulations restrict personal belongings inside shipped vehicles. Leave the trunk empty (except a spare tire and jack).

Keep 1/4 tank of fuel

Enough for loading and unloading, but not so much that it adds weight and cost.

Disable alarms

Turn off aftermarket toll passes and disable any car alarms that might trigger during transit.

Note any leaks

Tell your dispatcher if the vehicle leaks fluids β€” some carriers require top-deck placement.

Take photos

Snap a few pictures of the vehicle from all angles before pickup as your own record.
