Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about shipping a vehicle with Carsaman. Don't see your question? Call us at (786) 238-5595.

How much does it cost to ship a car?

Shipping costs depend on distance, vehicle size, trailer type (open vs enclosed), season, and current fuel prices. Most standard-vehicle open transport quotes fall between $600 and $1,600. Get an exact quote in minutes on our contact page or by phone.

How long does auto transport take?

Under 500 miles: 1–2 days. 500–1,500 miles: 2–4 days. 1,500–2,500 miles: 4–7 days. Coast to coast: 7–10 days. These are transit times after pickup; dispatch usually happens 1–3 days after booking.

Is my vehicle insured during transport?

Yes. Every carrier in our network carries active cargo insurance, and we verify certificates before dispatch. Open transport covers up to $100,000 per vehicle; enclosed transport covers up to $250,000.

Do I have to be there for pickup and delivery?

No. You can designate any adult (family member, friend, neighbor, dealership rep) to hand over and receive the vehicle on your behalf. Just let us know who to expect.

Can I put personal items in the car?

Federal regulations technically prohibit personal belongings in shipped vehicles. Small items (under 100 lbs) in the trunk are typically overlooked by carriers, but they are not insured. We recommend shipping personal items separately.

Does the vehicle need to run?

No. We can ship inoperable vehicles, but we need to know in advance so we can assign a winch-equipped trailer. There is a small surcharge for non-running vehicles.

What forms of payment do you accept?

A deposit (if any) can be paid by credit card, ACH, or Zelle at booking. The balance is paid directly to the driver at delivery β€” typically by cash, cashier's check, postal money order, or Zelle.

Do you require a deposit?

No upfront deposit is required to book. You only pay once a carrier is dispatched and confirmed. Some expedited or specialty shipments may require a small booking deposit β€” we'll always disclose this in writing first.

What if my vehicle is damaged in transit?

In the rare case of damage, note it clearly on the Bill of Lading at delivery, take photos, and contact us immediately. We help you file a claim directly with the carrier's cargo insurance β€” Carsaman advocates for you throughout the process.

Can you ship to Alaska or Hawaii?

Yes. We coordinate with port operators in Seattle, WA and Long Beach, CA for ocean freight to Alaska and Hawaii. Contact us for a custom quote.

What's the difference between open and enclosed transport?

Open transport uses the multi-level trailers you see on the highway β€” cost-effective and widely available. Enclosed transport uses fully covered trailers to protect against weather and debris, ideal for luxury, exotic, and classic vehicles.

How do I get a quote?

Fill out the quote form on our contact page or call (786) 238-5595. You'll receive a firm, all-inclusive price β€” usually within 60 minutes during business hours.
